Exclusive vs Shared Solar Leads
Exclusive solar leads are distributed to one buyer under the supplier’s agreement; shared leads may be sold to multiple buyers. Exclusivity describes distribution, not the consumer’s ability to seek other quotes or the probability of a sale.
Define the promise precisely
Ask whether the supplier means one recipient, one recipient in a region, a temporary exclusive window or a restriction on future resale. Obtain the terms in writing. Also ask whether affiliated dealers or outside fulfillment partners receive the same record. A vague “exclusive” label is not a substitute for distribution rules.
Bear Fish’s real-time program generates leads for your business and states they are delivered to you alone. No claim is made that a consumer has never contacted another solar company independently.
Historical distribution still matters
An aged record may have been distributed before the current order. Buying the last available export does not erase that history. Ask about prior buyers, reuse, suppression and future resale separately from the original opt-in age.
Freshness and exclusivity are different dimensions. A freshly submitted inquiry can be shared; an older record can have limited distribution. Request both age and distribution information when evaluating a file.
Compare outcomes rather than unit price
Shared leads can carry a lower upfront price, but competition may affect contact and booking economics. Exclusive leads still require staffing, accurate qualification and permitted follow-up. No universal appointment-rate premium is asserted here.
Use unique contacts, held appointments and acquired customers to compare sources. Include setter effort, unsuccessful attempts and replacements. Read the product comparison and the cost guide before choosing a supplier.
